Hello everybody welcome to the five minutes PM podcast today. I like to do do a Retrospective of 2010. I'd like to look back and to understand what's that what happened, what really happened in 2010, that same thing, or the project management field, and also on other areas of work for me, 2010, the landmark of 2010 was volatility and instability.

And when I start my Podcast saying this, maybe you will start thinking, Oh God bad things. So bad ear. No, no. I'd like to show you that stability and volatility are huge opportunities because the best way to handle We certainty is to project its to forget the date, a routine and think almost 100% in projects. So in Brazil we have to be zillion the federal elections in the us.

We have the Congress election's we have all the challenges faced in the Obama administration challenges facing all over the ward. Not only in the us, but UK, we were up Ireland, Greece, Spain, and many, many other countries. So this instability. So this crisis, so some parts of the planet doing pretty well like Brazil and all the parts of the planet facing dramatic is an implant projects being canceled, postponed that job cuts.

So this was the landmark for me for 2010. So does in stability. So things changing dramatically look the stock market. So one day he goes up four or 5%. The other day goes down 10% the other day and it goes back. So this is the volatility uncertainty. And I saw a huge space for crisis management to think more in the project base that environment like I recorded a couple of weeks ago to monitor and control risks, to understand the risk approach, to understand that the technology is taking a huge place in the marketplace.

This was another thing that surprised at me, look at the Zuckerburg. One of the personality of the year from time magazine and the Facebook and saw the Facebook has not only the Facebook, but a way that people connect to each other, the way people talk that way people build relationships. And we can use all this in the project environment that shot people using Facebook, using Twitter, to forecast and to connect people in the project to look how far are we can go on that.

And this also brings kind of challenges. If we return back to September 11, the way that the terrorist that tax happen. Now, the challenges that, for example, the us government is facing through weaklings to wreak leaks, very predominant magazine here in Brazil, putting on the cover. But the gentleman that is the chairman, the leader of weak links, like a pump man and where the bombs were a hard time.

And in his hand, like the way to detonate the bombs was a mouse So look the way they make public 250,000 documents from the blama see the us diplomacy to look at the chart and this will happen in our project environment. So the information becomes more and more valuable and the information can change completely the way we play the game, the way we'll handle with our suppliers, our customers, our team.

So this is the way we can see a much more projectized project based learning environment. So this for me was the way I should 2010. And next week, I'd like to talk about the future. In again, to understand how we can prepare ourselves to take advantage of this volatility, because for sure volatility and instability will continue or maybe even more. So we need to understand how we can handle with that.
