Speaker 1 (4s): Hello, everyone. Welcome to the five minutes PM. Podcast as I do since 2007, the end of the year, I like to always like to record two podcasts, one talking about the year and the other one, trying to make some perspectives about the next year. So this year, for me, I made some highlights here. The first thing was a lot of instability and a lot of doubt. And I think this is was one of the big marks of this year.

So this doubt, this unstable environment, I'm not limiting myself to speak about financial or economic. Know what I'm talking about? The whole link stability, you know, the unpredictability of the work. There was a lot of expectations. For example, from the US side, we saw the United States growing up faster than many of us were expecting in Brazil. We had the whole expectations around the world cup and the works and the projects around the world cup.

I also saw project management becoming more, more popular. If you hear previous years, Podcast you see that I'm talking about this a lot. We see that project management is moving towards different areas. So we start seeing people from different areas using project management and not only to build nuclear power plants, hydro electrical power plants, airports. I'm talking about using project management as a concept.

And as a background to your profession, I also saw a huge growth in social media use for project management. So the internet and the mobile and the web platforms play a major role that on the software side; I also saw different paths when we talk about software; I think that the software market for project management is pretty much splitting between two major groups.

The first group is cloud-based at work. I'm talking about very simple everything on the cloud that you can use pretty much instead of software you use pretty much a web browser to do. And you subscribe to software to websites that you can just upload your budget, upload you scatter a very simple way. And when do you order side the growth of very highly specific software to do critical chain, very deep, critical Chang software to do quantitative risk analysis that explains the major role.

So the software has to do a Monte Carlo simulation, very, very specific enterprise solutions. So this is in the middle. I don't see too much. So the software is moving and bouncing towards these two groups. And this is exactly to answer the concept. I said about project management becoming more and more popular. Why? Because when you make popular project management, you need to have popular software, simple software that a lawyer can use.

And this is that social media play. So the popularization of project management with social media and with this very simple cloud-based software does is a stream of work to make project management something agile in simple four simple projects. People, we'll not use a cloud-based that environment to plan an $18 billion airport, but they can use it very simple in a very simple way to do something that I'm doing today.

You are not aware, but I'm recording this podcast from Insite, a campervan, an RV in the South Island of New Zealand. And I'm spending 16 days in a campervan with my family doing a circle in the South Island. Maybe you should ask me why Ricardo talking about a camper van in a project management office because it's because I use it, the project management concepts and basic shop software to plan my trip.

And this is the popularization, it's not the Ricardo the project management space list, but it's the Ricardo, the father that is, you know, using project management concepts and basic software tools to plan the simple prevent trip with my family. So this is the concept I can summarize about the zoo. So project management going towards different fields, you, we see a PMI releasing a certification in a towards business analysis requirement so that we see that things are becoming wider.

When we talk about project management, then I see this with a lot of good on that. It's not a bad move. What, for me, it's a bigger challenge is the instability. Because project managers hate it. Stability. They love predictability. And the ear of 2014 was not the stay well a year. And I don't want to anticipate next week Podcast, but I will talk about this instability, and this instability will continue towards 2015, and it's very important that we need to adapt ourselves to that.
